BERMUDA TRIANGLE

Posted by anthonynorth on April 9, 2007

underwater-shipwreck.jpg On 5 December 1945, disaster was about to strike the personnel of Fort Lauderdale in Florida. That afternoon five torpedo-bombers took off on a routine training flight. Soon, things began to go wrong. The flight leader reported equipment malfunctions, gyro-compasses went crazy, and he lost his horizon. Finally, he reported that he was lost. This happened just off the Florida coast and, as the day progressed, the weather worsened rapidly. Two hours later, the aircraft disappeared and were never seen again. No bodies were found and no wreckage spotted.
In isolation, the tragedy was not unprecedented. Disorientation is easy to achieve over water and, if lost, it is easy to fly until your fuel runs out, simply falling from the sky. The lack of evidence of a crash was unusual but, again, it has happened before. But what do we make of a sixth plane - part of the search and rescue operation - blowing up less than half an hour after take-off, with total loss of life?

A CATALOGUE OF DISASTER

The above is one of the major episodes of what has become known as the Bermuda Triangle. Others include the loss of two aircraft in 1948, taking sixty lives. In 1950 a freighter disappeared with all hands. 1963 saw a triple tragedy with the loss of another freighter and three large aircraft.
Indeed, if you add up the minor incidents as well you come up with a continuous list of mysterious disappearances of over 140 ships and planes and a thousand lives. The greatest tragedy happened in March 1918. Sailing from Barbados to Norfolk, Virginia, the US Navy Supply Vessel Cyclops disappeared without trace, taking three hundred lives.
The Bermuda Triangle stretches from Bermuda to Cuba, and along the US coast from Miami to New York. Sceptics would argue there is no mystery as traffic is so dense that disasters are inevitable. But a whole industry of the fantastic has been built up to explain such disappearances.

PSEUDOSCHOLASTIC SHENNANIGANS

Vincent Gaddis blamed a space-time continuum touching our dimension at this point.
Charles Berlitz put it down to UFO activity and time warps. A Dr Kenneth McCall postulated the tormented souls of black slaves thrown overboard to be cursing the area.
Ivan Sanderson suggested a slightly less bizarre theory with his magnetic vortices. Identifying similar areas around the Earth, such vortices are formed where warm and cold currents collide.
A further idea is offered by geo-chemist, Dr Richard McIver, who blames gas hydrates trapped in the seabed. Geo-disturbances can cause the release of large amounts of methane. When this happens, the sea can go frothy, like the head of beer, causing ships to lose buoyancy and sink.
When the methane reaches the air, a plane engine can cause it to ignite, the wreckage falling into the frothy sea and disappearing. However, whilst this last theory holds real possibilities, perhaps we are looking at the mystery from the wrong angle.

CLEARING THE FOG

From the myriad disasters and close escapes in the area a list of factors leading to disaster can be highlighted. For instance, escapees speak, almost unanimously, of faulty gyro-compasses, equipment malfunction, loss of horizon, lack of wreckage, planes blowing up, water seeming to rise up as if a water-spout, dense banks of sudden fog, and sudden turbulent waters.
Yet each of the above events are experienced all the time by sailors and airmen the world over. There is nothing really unusual about any of them in isolation. What IS unusual is that, in the Bermuda Triangle, they all seem to strike at once. We have a word for such a congregation of events. Coincidence.
Even skeptics are wary of using this word to explain the Bermuda Triangle. Better, they think, to not think about it at all. After all, the mystery is just so ridiculous. But this is a mistake. For instance, you do not need to study other disasters for long before you realize that coincidence is often the major factor in disaster. It is the coming together of small mistakes and failures that build up to the coincidental congregation of events that cause disaster.

AN INEVITABLE THEORY

This is, actually, inevitable. The universe is obviously designed in such a way as to allow coincidental happenings to occur. If it wasn’t, they simply wouldn’t happen. The law of chance itself demands that coincidences DO occur. Indeed, in such a ‘coincidental’ universe, the Bermuda Triangle is, itself, an inevitability, for coincidence would dictate that sometime, somewhere, a congregation of events must come to a particular location.
Folklore would speak of such an inevitability with terms such as curse or jinx. This, in itself, is interesting. For inevitability can have a marked effect on the human mind, causing people to make silly mistakes they otherwise would not make. For instance, if you think you’re going to have an accident, you will be wary and perform different to the norm, increasing the possibilities of an accident happening. Hence, could it be that, as a culture of disaster arose in the area, human psychology dictated that the prevalence of mistakes would increase?
Science is quite rightly based on Reductionism, where the simplest explanation is preferred, and the ‘incidences’ of single events take priority over the wider ‘pattern’ of related events. But I am sure that science requires a bedfellow in terms of a more holistic way of looking at things – a discipline I have called Patternology, or P-ology.
The Bermuda Triangle could be a classic example for P-ological study, for nowhere else has such a congregation of events occurred, ripe for analysis and study. The suggested statistical bias towards disaster, combined with a possible collective human psychology of inevitability, could be studied in the raw, with the possible outcome of a ‘science of disaster’ that could offer guidance for avoiding disaster in the future.
To ignore such a possibility is to condemn us to a continuing bias towards disaster.

  1. Capt. Dave Says:

I can explain why whales mass strand themselves on beaches around the world and why ships suddenly go missing and why low-flying propeller driven airplanes might suddenly fall out of the air. I can also explain most of the weird observations accredited to the bermuda triangle.

I am now working on my novel and hope to release it soon. The story is about a man who lossess his wife and daughter in a freak boating accident in the caribbean. He becomes obsessed to understand why the boat they were on suddenly vanished. Along the way he runs into a Russian scientists who helps him unravel the mystery of the bermuda triangle along with the mystery of why whales mass strand. The answer to these mysteries involves rather simple science that has never before been examined in relation to ocean phenonmena.

Everyone will be surprised at out simple and logical the solution really is.

    Capt Dave

  2. francis Says:

I think there are some military activties going on there. It might be some secret of a country(s) doing military activties. They dont want to open there secret so they just kill or do somthing with them.

  3. Debby Says:

It is the broken remnants of the crystal island disaster misfiring and causing havoc. This will soon be under control.

  4. sheraz khan Says:

what is happening around that triangle is all about SURFACE tension.i just go through a some of pics n articles n cogitating on the comments of victimize people …. there is layer which magnetize every thing which comin in that circle all is due to huge of quantity of some chemicals in the deep oceans……….

  5. samra Says:

i would like to say that it might have to do with wormholes becasue they could take the boats to another world and time or place this strange going on might have to do with this

  6. brittny Says:

I think it’s atlantis because i gut dived for lobsters and there was a littil town there it was creepy!!!!!!!!

  7. mm Says:

All those ships & missing airplanes
must be down there under the sea, very deep
    where no human can go……….???
    thanks….

  8. maryjane Says:

    very scary…….?

  9. praveen kumar Says:

i think may be long ago some meteor(a big rock)must had been fallen and made a big hole into the ocean. so this caused more gravitional force than normal i.e ( 9.8mts|sec).so whenever an object is passing by, it is pulled down due to large center of gravity.

  10. ROBERT Says:

I THINK UFO’S PUT IT THER AND WHEN SOMEONE OR SOMETHINK GOES IN IT TAKES THEM TO ANOTHER DIMENTION!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Christian de Jong Says:

First of all I can’t help but commit on the simple fact to this site’s suggestion to the Bermuda Triangle Theory being all about coincidence. That is a farce and ridiculous!!! There is a reason for everything and if some real intense research was done into the Bermuda Triangle as well as the Great Lakes Mysteries, then we would probably get somewhere. I’m not saying it’s UFO’s or B.S. like that, but something strange is going on. Perhaps some unknown force in the weather that man has not discovered yet, or something to do with the magnetic fields. As far as all these accidents and disappearances being in the hundreds, if not thousands, is no stupid coincidence. The government, or some special agency with the money needs to go down to the bottom of these areas and find out exactly what the heck is down there and find the wreckage and examine it. It is amazing to me with all of our technology and resources that no one has figured out a dang thing yet about these mysterious areas such as the Bermuda Triangle and the Great Lakes. C.D

  12. anthonynorth Says:

    Hi Christian,
I sympathize with your frustrations about science not studying the subject seriously, but this is an inevitability of anything that ends up with the tag, ‘pseudo.’ Science won’t touch it with a barge poll.
Which is a shame, because there may well be a ’scientific’ explanation waiting in the wings. I don’t know. I can only look at the reasonable alternatives we have. And out of them, I think coincidence is not as ridiculous as you think.

  13. Jennifer Says:

I believe this is the key to traveling into other dimensions. If you look at the research that is already available it offers some valuable clues to these disappearances. The information is already there. It just needs to be looked at closely, or maybe from a different angle. There are facts out there, even listed with the Coast Gaurd, that when put together make the above statement about dimensional travel seem more than possible.

  14. Deena. Says:

I think i agree with Christian. All the money they have, and after everything thats happened over this area… no one has even thought about actually finding out whats going on. I think they are just afraid of what they might find.

  15. Suzielofty Says:

I think it’s something related with occultic powers used to claim innocent lives.

  16. Joysen Says:

i do think that this mystery can be explained by one or a combination of the suggested cause of that mystery….it can be scientifically proved…i do agree with Vincent Gaddis, that maybe some extraordinary forces could be acting at that particular point(the triangle) on earth.

but we live in a such complicated world…where many facts can hardly be expalined…but am totally with the scientist.

    Joysen,
    From Mauritius.

  17. Thomas Haberthaler Says:

My theory is that all throughout human history, there have been phenomenally intelligent individuals and groups of individuals together in cooperation, whom have achieved great things, Ed Leedskalnin for example. Maybe some remarkable invention of someone or some group, still not understood by passers by today. I believe that immeasurably intelligent people and breathtakingly intelligent groups of people working together in cooperation still exist today. Maybe information is passed down from previous intelligent groups to the latter.

  18. L. Peterson Says:

This is a rather late contribution to an old discussion but as with Christian, I can’t help but comment on this subject. The Bermuda Triangle (which must occasionally be morphed into a trapezoid to include the “spookiest” cases) has been beefed up over decades by opportunistic authors who have passed along mis-truths and fable as fact to make a mundane story seem supernatural. The Florida coast, the bahamas and the waters included in the Bermuda Triangle bear some of the heaviest marine traffic in the world, both commercial and recreational, as the U.S. Coast Guard will attest. It is true that there are a high number of disappearances, accidents and the like in this area but it’s simple statistics, not the paranormal. Where there are thousands of vessels plying around there are going to be a high number of incidents and some will appear unusual on the face of things. It would be a tragic waste of resourses to commit concentrated study on this media phenomenon rather than some of the more worthy paranormal and/or cryptozoological subjects that pose a higher chance of bearing fruit.

  20. MarHazK Says:

Based on my theories and sciences, I noticed that all disappears is existed in ALL dimension. I studied the blackhole that recorded by NASA, and i believe that it can vanished anythings that goin into that blackhole. Compare with blackhole and bermuda, its 80% same but other 20% could be transfered to other dimension.

All of these already existed since B.C, and think that… between blackhole and galaxy, bermuda and earth… Nothing similiar, except what’s is happened after its disappeared. Both will work I magnetic was there and the air-presure could help the transforming. Once its disappeared, I believe that its already vanished, but how about soul or any others that quite same.. Maybe human soul will transfered to the other dimension.

  21. stenzin Says:

it is really a very amazing thing whch is happening in our planet!why dont nasa or and ngo do to get what really it is!i think it may get us all a great result!

  22. Hariprasad Says:

Based on the Information we have”:I suggests - This mystery can be explained taking with Electro Magnetism (Magneticosphere - Earth’s Magnetic Field).
i had not Found any contradiction when this mystery analysed with Earth’s Magnetic Field Theory.Instead logically the mystery has proved to the Earth’s Magnetic Field Theory.Let me give some Proof Logically–

    Below are the Facts (Information):-

1.Magnetic compass doest work-Sailors confused with the readigns showed in the compass, and landed into the triangle. Before Magetic compass windup it shows Real North Pole or Real South Pole which earth is having which is exceptional to our parts of earth(but Reversel at this Triangle area)
2.Ships and planes destroy without any traces.
3.Bermuda Triangle and Devil’s Sea are two similar mysterys, that exists at the two poles of the earth.(North and south)

Proofs for above Facts respectively (Logically):-

1.Magnetic compass doest work N-S pole are not cleary seen in compass — When Ships enter in to this area, The Compass shows Original Earth Pole instead of Magnetic Pole, mean the ship itself is in Pole of earth , so it shows earths pole, so when ships at the edges of the earth pole then it has to experience the force of earths magnetic field(Very Powerfull) and thus gets destroyed attacted in to the sea.Ex:Take any magnet piece and try attracting any partical(steel) from it, then find out which point in magnet is having powerfull attraction force. That point would be the edge pole of magetic effect taking place.

2.Ships and planes destroy without any traces — When Ships and planes are pulled into the ocean with the earths magetic attactive force what may be its speed of attacting particles in the ocean?. (you want fruit juice, you use Mixer)

3.Bermuda Triangle and Devil’s Sea are two similar mysterys, that exists at the two poles of the earth.(North and south)
—This is clear evidence that this two mystery exsists exactly at earth poles. So defenitely this two mysterys has to exhibit all the properties of Electro Magnetism. The incidents we has at this mysterys, like ships/planes invisible mean diffenetely it is in the ocean, mean planes are attracted in this area at very big force, even though planes fly more the earths gravity(9.8 m/s),So mean that at this mystery place apart from gravity (is due to centripetal and fugal force- balanced each other, what if there is imbalance between this force, just the earth will be trown out of galaxy.)the other force is Earths Magnetic force, this magenetic force are very powerfull at the edges of the poles aso all the planes are pulled in to the ocean because of the Earths Electro magnetic field.
    —–
I had analysed logically, dint find any contradiction between the facts and the Proven Science.

  27. Evelyn Says:

I think that the bermuda triangle is like a trap. Which it probabaly is. It is really crazy how people can dissappear like that.

  28. Alex Says:

    the bermuda is cool

  29. MarHazK Says:

NASA failed to recorded the Bermuda area because its a dark area and undetected. Too bad to us to know about it for more further.

  30. VILAYT HUSSAIN Says:

i think this is the place where non other than IMAM MEHDI the 12th imam of shia sect of islam lives so it cannot be seen by ordinary people. When a person dare to discover it is disappeared.

  31. MarHazK Says:

well, i think not only Imam mehdi (maybe) but those have mukjizat can see it..

  32. James Lewitzke Says:

Tons of ships have traveled through it in the past, and seem to come away unscathed by the triangle, so how do you explain their success?

  33. anthonynorth Says:

    Hi James,
Same way as I explain the success of most today.

I suggest you to read about a revolutionary discovery in physics here:http://www.bearfabrique.org/Catastrophism/Wallsan.txt and then try to explain the Bermuda-triangle mystery using that theory.

  37. Irony Says:

i believe atlantis is in the bermuda triangle due to the discovery of the Bimini road

  38. Irony Says:

    does anyone else agree?

  39. anthonynorth Says:

    Hi Irony,
It’s quiet on this post now. This discussion is months old. But to answer your question, it is highly likely that the Bimini Road is a natural form.
The other possibility is that it is part of many partly man-made, partly natural structures now under consideration throughout the world.
Most likely built prior to the end of the last ice age, they could well be evidence of some lost civilisation from the past, but not a specific Atlantis. If you want to read more, try this :

i believe that the bermuda is still used as a test area for new military weopons in foreign countrys such as nuclear weopons wich would explain the megnetic compass malfunction any other theries lz i would like to know i am reasearching the bermuda

  42. lord Says:

hi, the bermuda triangle is one thing that interests me. I have heard that the bermuda triangle only affects metal objects not wooden boats. The berm. tri. can be explained scientifically but will always have a supernatural element to it. Many disappearings but still some have gone through without any problems. My theory is that, many, many years ago, an asteroid hit earth, causing the dinosours to go extinct. The asteroid is the berm. tri.

  43. dr. sam Says:

Do you really think that no government has ever looked into this… The answers are known and society as a whole, being the infant it is, is not ready for the answer. They DO know what causes this and why, but “THEY” so to speak don’t believe that we are ready to dilute all of our beliefs of the natural world. Government wants to keep us in the dark as much as possible. Otherwise, people would manipulate and use these “powers” and manipulate the very fabric of our existence… The answers are out there, but we as a society will never know… If you really want answers, join the CIA or which ever agency is dedicated to these mysterious occurences. It’s like 2012, or aliens. If they told us the world was to end on Jan. 21st 2012, society would go into a complete upheaval and there would be no order. If they told us aliens exist, society would become pre-occupied with those notions and other possibilities alike. Government wants us to be wrapped up in our own little nonsensical, materialistic lives; never questioning the powers of the universe. If they had it their way, we’d all be sheep; or maybe lemmings might be a more suitable analogy (and not too very far off from the truth.) Good luck in your search.. Don’t bother replying to this post because due to certain, possibly obvious reasons, I have provided a fake e-mail and am sending this from an I.P. address other than my own as to maintain my “stealthy” status on big bro’s radar… P.S.- I’m not a conspiracy theorist, just to clear that up. Im just an enlightened individual with reasonable insight. Read up on edgar kaycee, atlantis, time travel, and the power of atlantean crystal structures and put the pieces together yourselves…

  44. dr. sam Says:

The triangle also has to do with solar cycles, sun spots, magnetic polarization, and even the ancient egyptians and mayans. Just do your homework. It may take some time and effort, but you don’t need to have a doctorate to figure it all out… Just have an open mind and think about the correlations. The pull of the depths of the triangle is caused by atlantean megalithic structures from a past civilization, who as a people, were much more in touch with nature and far more advanced than ourselves. These structures only “pull” or emit their energy at certain points in the universe’s planetary alignment… Hope that clears some things up… Also, it is possible to tap into the universal mind and see future and past events with a lot of concentration, training, and meditative thinking… I myself have seen vivid accounts of the near future in my own dreams, undoubtedly… There’s more to us and life than what we know… Before they found America, everyone “knew” the earth was flat… Ask yourself this… If we only use 8% of our brain, why is the other 92% there. Nothing is created in nature without a purpose. Even parasites and viruses have a purpose… To create balance within life… The universe is about balance…

  45. ripper Says:

  46. Kasumali Eddie Says:

Interesting story indeed - i’ve heard since my childhood. Hver i need to know, have there been any successful flights or movements thru the triangle? I think it’s all to do with magnetic forces of the earth, but if there are any isolated successful flights and movements across the triangle, i’d change my mind.

  47. anthonynorth Says:

    Hi Kasumali Eddie,
The Bermuda Triangle covers some very busy shipping routes and flight paths. It is only a tiny percentage of boats and planes that seem to have been affected. But significantly high enough above the norm to be ‘interesting’.

  48. nisanth Says:

It is really an imaging and interesting mystery. In my opinion the scientists must launch a special satellite to reveal that mystery.I do not beleive in supernatural powers.I think it is due to the some forceof attraction that is causing the planes and ships missing

  49. virendra tiwary Says:

it is not mystery…but it is interesting i dont beleive in supersticion…it is a part of nature and we too…forces are other scientific notational name of superpower of nature…one thing is sure..until nature doesn’t want to make it understant ,make to know it we can’t come to know about it..it is truth.. it doesn’t mean we stop our effort to know it……one more thing everything is known by our “VEDAS”…IT MAY BE POSSIBLE THAT IT IS DESCRIBED in other form…may be as story..they know everything…as we know much about this nature we are going near to end our civilization with all knoledge………..it is truth….as the nature of human being to know everything we want to know ,we can’t stop it……it is know mystry….well…know more and more about this and satisfy our excitment and derive pleasure………but one much suitable tool to know this is knowing the nature through spritually…gudluckkkkkkkkkk

  50. Tom Haberthaler Says:

Edgar Cayce did call it right when he said at some point in history that evidence of Atlantis would surface near Bimini. He hit that one right on the head, because later, these Bimini blocks were found. But once again, there have always been intelligent and well informed people on our planet. Let me point out that our FT. Sumter here in Charleston is a very old, man made island. It wasn’t an impossible task for these people of long ago to build this man made island for millitary purposes. It’s still there now! So I’m personally going to assume that a thousand years before this, mankind could have just as easily built a man made island. Maybe Atlantis was a man made island! Anyone ever think of that. Japan in recent times has built manmade islands to use as airports. Maybe there have always been people who used their immaginations, and opened their minds. Maybe people did great things thousands of years ago, and maybe people still will, now.

  51. anthonynorth Says:

    Hi Tom,
I’m certainly not against the idea of higher tech long ago. This series of mine may be of interest:

    Lost Civilisation

That said, let me offer an alternative to the Bimini Road. Local fishermen had always known about the ’structures’, but no one else was bothered. Until Cayce came along. Then, people from ‘outside’ took an interest.
We’re dealing with a self-fulling prophecy here. Atlantis didn’t suddenly appear in the sea, but in popular consciousness.

  52. chandra sekharan .N Says:

my friend showed some photos which was took from sattilite that there was a space ship of some aliens. I was astonished and did not belive it.but something was striking my mind till this minute that it may be. iam very eager to know because i like to learn very more about bermuda triangle

  53. rhae lara Says:

well.. i think that it must be just some kind of strong force that’s making those planes, vessels gone. well.. i also think that bermuda triangle is nearly within the core so maybe the the core has somthing to do with the disappearances.

maybe. well, its just my prediction.

  54. SHAh Says:

hy the secret of the triangle is that imam mehdi (a.S)lives therer so no coomon person can entere ther who dare to enter he will disappear so this is the secret

  55. Tom Haberthaler Says:

I’d like to take this opportunity to once again tell my true story of a sighting I had in Florida while driving up and down Highway A1A between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, Florida. I love Highway A1A and often go there to drive along the coast to be away from all my problems. Well after midnight one night, I stopped to help an accident victem on the side of the road who had wrecked his motorcycle. I called police and ems personell and once they came to the victem, they told me I could go. I headed up toward St. Augustine again, happy with myself that I had stopped and helped, and saw this great big ball of brilliant white light, arch across the sky ahead of my truck. It arched at an incredible rate of speed and this thing was brilliant and white, I want to say, “like Jesus!” Now I hadn’t had a drop to drink! I don’t take drugs. This thing whatever or whoever it was, was there! Every hair on the back of both my arms stood straight up! I wasn’t immagining that, whatever that was, was there alright!

  56. anthonynorth Says:

    Hi Tom,
    Thanks for sharing that experience.

  57. TIM DURFEE Says:

I THINK THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE IS A FOGY PLACE WERE THE RADARS GO CRAZY AND THEY DON’T NO WERE THEY ARE GOING AND THEY GET TURNED AROUND MAYEBE THEY THINK THEY ARE GOING THIS WAY BUT THEY ARE REALLY GOING THE OTHER WAY ,THEY THINK THEIR LOST THEY PROBABLY THINK THEIR IS NO HOPE AND THEY JUST START TRYIG TO WAIST GAS AND GET THEIR DEATH OVER WITH FASTER THE TECHNOLYGY WE HAVE NOW WE COULD PROBABLY FLY THROUGH THEIR NO PROBLEM

  58. ramkee Says:

it is a big mystery i.e delta triangle n devils triangle are on the base of very strong electronic fog that was formed due concentration of ions( electrons ,protons etc.,) is due sudden increase in gravitational force at that places due to which very low buoyancy force.dew to which what ever goes that side goes on disappearing.having the electronic concentration at that place the is huge energy is produced in various ways forming an electronic fog at that point causing all these

  59. bob Says:

    What?

  60. anthonynorth Says:

    Where?

  61. Anno Says:

All seems very intresting viewing everyones opinions I would really like to know the truth in the mystries or some hardcore evidence behind a theory. I’ve also seen explanations pointing to the absolute north theory, having to do with magnetism. But IDK, however i would really like to. Is it a place of death and the supernatural, or paridise, a secret no one wants to reveal.

  62. anthonynorth Says:

    Hi Anno,
Yes, this post is building up into quite a catalogue of various ideas. It’s marvellous.

  63. Sam Says:

I believe the central area of the triangle must be a underwater ufo base. I think their kind is habitating our earth to protect us from self anilation. Our inteligence is not capatable with theirs. Ufos are always flying in and out of our planet because they know our planet is on collision course for extinction. God created this world and he has to send highly smart beings on his behalf to monitor and report back to god. In our puny little mind cannot conceive the order of things. But some the truth will be revealed.

  64. Sam Says:

Our mind has so much false messages and corruption. Our itelligencis an insult to all creation. And I believe every civilation in space knows about how humans behave. I think our reactions have a high disapproval rate with all life.

  65. Jaimie Says:

I think that this is one of those things that no one really knows for sure no matter what anyone says. This is a subject that causes controversy and riots. I think it is fascinating, everyone has a different perspective on what it is and why these dissapearences occur.
