OBESE UK
The Chief Scientific Adviser has disclosed the result of the largest obesity study ever done in the UK. The results show that by 2050 half of the British population will be obese. Measures, it seems, must be taken. But don’t worry, it is not your fault.
The individual person is the innocent in all this. Rather, we are suffering from a combination of junk food, car transportation and sedentary work practices. There just isn’t anything in life to take away all those calories we have to endure.
What an absolute load of rubbish!
It is perfectly easy to eat sensibly if you really want to. The success of junk food is the success of laziness. As for the other two problems, these can be compensated for by simple exercise.
Yes, junk food, cars and sedentary work are with us, but this is no reason to blame them and not the individual. The main fault is personal choice – the choice to just go with the flow, or do something for your own health.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not moralizing.
I am not saying we should all be forced into healthy lifestyles – I do enough unhealthy things myself, and will not be made different by moralizing hypocrites. But I understand this.
I am responsible for my choices. No one else forces me to do such things. THIS is the message that should be hammered home.
