TONY’S MUSE DIARY

Glastonbury Rocks

Yes!!! I’m headlining. At last, I’m first. Reason? Him Outside’s too
tired to argue. It’s been Glastonbury weekend, and that meant 3
late nights watching TV. There were some average performances
this year, especially from the headliners. Blur’s comeback
performance closed the festival, and whilst the place
seemed to rock, Him Outside had seen better.

Another average performance seemed to
come from The Boss.

But then again, Him Outside had never been a great fan of
Springsteen. Tom Jones did okay in the old fogey slot, but man
that shirt was dripping! Most of the best performances came from
the lesser bands. Particularly enjoyed Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Nick
Cave, and good old Quo rocked nicely, if not with genius. But the
performance of the festival this year was Friday night’s headliner.
A true force straight out of the 70s. Yep, Neil Young rocked!!

THE TOOL

The tool is coming to save our way,
Got to prepare without delay,
Instructions provided of what we must do,
Everyone busy, not just a few

We’re ready, so, when will it come?
Did as you asked – everything done;
But hold! Haven’t we sorted it out?
That tool was intention, took away doubt

LOVERS

Fiction: The red rose whispers of passion, and the white rose
breathes of love. They were sat in the garden in a lovers’ embrace.
Birds serenaded, adding to the mood, and a pleasant sun bathed
them. He touched her face, delicately, and when their lips met,
passion burst out upon the scene and they were fulfilled. He watched
them, his heart full of joy, and a tear came to his eye. It was all just
so perfect, and he knew he did good. Finally, he pulled himself away
and to his front took in the hundreds of other monitors. The candid
microphones and cameras guarded us from harm and protected our
freedoms, he was sure.

So, you gonna watch tennis today?

  2. I liked The Lovers best today.

  3. Hi Brian,
Yes, I’ll be watching some of it, but won’t be drawn into Britain’s best hope yet :-)

    Hi Julia,
    Thanks for that. Much appreciated.

It sounds as though Him Outside had a fun weekend! Maybe some of the performers seemed not to reach expectations is because “you really had to be there” to become intoxicated by the atmosphere ? I wouldn’t know because the nearest I’ve ever come to any such venue is to watch on DVD, but I’ve almost always been disappointed in the sets of even the biggest names, and have put it down to the fact that festivals just don’t translate into DVD very well. :-)

Yes, the theories abound on the topic of poor MJ. I’ve just about reached capacity on taking in any more stuff about him.

  5. Hi Twilight,
Oh yes, the atmosphere of these festivals CAN be intoxicating. Mindst you, the last big gig I went to WAS 1976 – Queen in Hyde Park.
I think you may have to find more capacity for MJ theories – or cut yourself off from all media ;-)

  6. Lovers made me smile. Thank you.

Have a terrific day Anthony. :)

  7. Hi Sandee,
Thanks for that. Glad you liked it.

    Rock ON!!!! :D

Could you explain or post a link that will explain free association to me? I like it very much, but am not privy to the rules. “The Tool” speaks volumes. :)

  9. Hi Texasblu,
Thanks for that. I’m just an old rocker at heart :-)

Fun poem for Unconscious Mutterings. Great job.

  11. Too bad it rained at Glastonbury, Anthony! Happy Manic Monday! :)

Love Neil Young – always have
The cameras make me nervous, as they should!

  13. Hi Storm,
    Thanks for that, and welcome.

    Hi Mary,
Actually, they did quite well this year. A big downpour on the first day, and then it cleared up mostly. The usual mud bath didn’t occur :-)

    Hi Dee,
Yes, he was a delight to watch. That’s how cameras are supposed to be used, of course.

Perhaps you could teach our government that central control is always bad. Before Obama is through we are going to have much more of it.

  15. Hi Dr John,
This seems to be the way of western government now. Everything has to be so big, and can only be controlled from the centre – they think. Or rather don’t.

Quick responses from both of us. I think you’re more romantic than I am! My ‘tool’ story is a biographical one and rather sad so maybe I have a heart too!

  17. Skittles said

    Um… I don’t get it. =(

  18. Hi Rinkly Rimes,
Now, Yorkshiremen are not known for their romantic ways. Don’t know what’s happening here :-)

    Hi Skittles,
Have you ever had a little job to do but you don’t have the right tool, so you work out how to do it another way. The poem applies that to society – we don’t have to wait for ‘fixes’. We can get on and do it ourselves.

  19. Excellent TOOL poetry Anthony. Excellent.

  20. Hi Hootin’ Anni,
    Thanks for that. Much appreciated.

  21. Like the title of this post. Wonderful lover post!

the sun danced around him and he kissed the stars

  22. Hi Gautami,
Many thanks. Yes, it just seemed to fit nicely.

Enjoyed the fiction with the twist of cameras as a finale!

I think we can probably all identify with ‘Unwelcome Guest’ and have had to deal with the mixture of guilt and irritation such a one engenders. I liked ‘The Lovers’ too – fine twist!

  25. Sue said

I really enjoyed The Tool entry for HOT today :) I think the tools to fix things can sometimes come from unexpected sources or places we might not have considered. I think you captured that thought :)

  26. Hi Gemma,
Thanks for that. A worryinging possibility though.

    Hi Jabblog,
Yes, those unwelcome visitors can bring out all kind of emotions :-) Thanks for the kind words.

    Hi Sue,
Many thanks. Yep, that’s the message I was trying to portray. We have the ability within ourselves to find solutions for anything.

intention a most special tool Sandy

  28. Hi Sandy,
    Yes, it is indeed.

  29. The lovers-
I don’t think I would like it if my private life too was on display

  30. Hi Daily Panic,
No, it would be horrible – but worryingly it’s the way it’s going.

  31. Karen said

    Wow! Great tool poem.

  32. Hi Karen,
Thanks for that. Glad you liked it.

  33. A timely take on Lovers – particularly fine!

  34. Anna said

I enjoyed your post. It looks like anything that helps to get the job done can be considered a tool.

  35. Hi Tumblewords,
Thanks for that. And a worrying timely theme, too.

    Hi Anna,
Many thanks. And you’re quite right.
