GOOGLE MOON

I understand Google are bankrolling a prize for the first private company that can safely land a rover on the Moon and beam back a gigabyte of data. This is fantastic news, and about time, too.
Apart from Richard Branson and a few others, no one has moved towards the reality of our future, which is space exploration and colonization in a big way. And the only way this can be achieved is by big business.
Exploration has always been the preserve of trade, and the only reasons we are not colonizing Mars right now is, first, big business’s lack of guts, and the stranglehold on space by governments.
I look forward to seeing the first reality survival show from the Moon, or how about a massive prize for the first Grand Prix to Mars? It’s about time trade did what it has historically always done, and stop wanting just a quick buck from trivia.
